AITCHO ISLANDS
The Aitcho Islands were our first stop in Antarctica. The islands are known for their spongy green mosses, a unique sight in the icy world of Antarctica. The Aitcho Islands get their name from the pronunciation "H.O." which stands for Hydrography Office, the British agency that did so much early survey work here in what has become Graham Land.
